Regarding support for java aspose.words to java aspose.pdf conversion Java

    To whom it may concern:

We are a Java shop that wants to convert aspose.words documents to PDF documents.  Do you have an eta for the availability of this feature?

    Thank you,

    Chris

Re: Regarding support for java aspose.words to java aspose.pdf conversion

     Hello Chris,

    Thanks for considering Aspose.

I am afraid we might not be able to support the conversion of Word file into PDF using Aspose.Pdf for Java, in short time. We apologize for your inconvenience.

As a workaround, I would suggest you to wait for few months as Aspose.Words team is going to support this feature by the end of second quarter, of this year, but it’s not a promise. I think Aspose.Words team would be in better position to confirm the dates regarding the availability of this feature. For this reason I am moving this thread to Aspose.Words forum.

Is there an update on this, or traction? We're using Aspose.Words in Java, and have needed this for a while now.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for your request. There is no news regarding this issue. The estimate is the same – the second half of this year, most likely the end of this year.

    Best regards.

Do you have a schedule update for us regarding this feature? - I'm especially interested in PDF/A support for generating documents from word templates by mail-merge and publish them as PDF/A (unchangable and therefore revision-save). - Thank you in advance!

Re: Regarding support for java aspose.words to java aspose.pdf conversion

    Hi

Thanks for your inquiry. The same compliance options, which are currently supported in .NET version of Aspsoe.Words, will be supported in Java.

    http://www.aspose.com/documentation/.net-components/aspose.words-for-.net-and-java/aspose.words.rendering.pdfcompliance.html

As you see currently only Pdf15 and PdfA1b compliance options are supported. Is Pdf/A-1b acceptable for you? Or do you need Pdf/A-1a compliance?

    Best regards.

Re: Regarding support for java aspose.words to java aspose.pdf conversion Java

Great news! A-1b would be perfectly enough for our demands. So I'll be looking forward to the end of the year! :-)

Just one thing that came to my mind regarding this topic: Our customers heavily rely on conditional fields in word mail-merge templates. Currently, they have to press Strg+A to select everything and then press F9 to update conditional field contents after document retrieval from the web application.
We requested a timeframe for supporting this feature some two or three months ago or so and got the reply that this should be included until middle of next year at latest.
When I think about mail-merging word templates and saving them as PDF documents, it would be necessary to have automatic evaluation of conditional fields included as well, wouldn't it? - Is it possible for you to give a more concrete timeframe for that as well? - Thank you very much!

    Kind regards,
    Marcus

Thanks for your request. Evaluation of conditional fields is also supported in .NET version of Aspose.Words. This feature will be supported in Java in one of upcoming releases.

I am also very interested in this functionality.  Your product does everything I need it to do but output in PDF format.  When will this be available?
