Low resolution problem with printed PDFs

    Attachment: Present (inaccessible)
Hi, I'm having a problem with Aspose.Pdf.Kit 3.0. I'm printing PDFs on a webserver and the webserver prints these to network printers. When the documents are printed they appear to be printed with a low resolution that is much lower than what I'm specifying with 'viewer.Resolution'. I've checked the printers and they are not set in economy mode and other documents are printed nicely. This concerns both documents and labels printed. Attached is the code I'm using to print my PDFs. I've set resolution to 800 dpi, but still grainy output from the printer. Does the print-function in the PdfViewer-class convert the PDF into an image and then sends the image to the printer? Is there other ways to print the PDF?

    Hi,

Can you also provide us with the PDF files that you are trying to print so that we can test it.

    Thanks.

Re: Low resolution problem with printed PDFs

    Hi,

The issue has been logged as PDFKITNET-4956 in our issue tracking system. We will try to improve the printing quality. But I don't think it could be completely resolved in short time, because we have to rewrite several corresponding classes ( for other issues ) in the mean time.

Your understanding and patience will be greatly appreciated.

    Best regards,

Re: Low resolution problem with printed PDFs

Do you have any suggestions on what I could do in the mean time to print PDFs? Like converting/extracting the PDF to an image (jpg, bmp ect.)? I tried converting it to a .tiff but that didn't help, still looked the same. It's odd to me that it looks so grainy when printed from Aspose.pdf.kit, yet it looks ok when printed from Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    Hi,

I will discuss this with the developer and let you know if there is a workaround.

    Thanks.

We are working on this issue. I hope we can find some workaround for this issue this week.

Re: Low resolution problem with printed PDFs

I've tested the code and the pdf attached in a previous post on my local office network, and it prints fine here. Could it therefore be related to the printer model at the customer's location? I have a "HP OfficeJet 7400 Series" that printes just fine. The customer uses "HP LaserJet P2015 Series PCL 5e" to print invoices and other documents, and "Zebra LP2844" for labels. Both of their printer models are printing these grainy PDFs.

    Hi,

Please try the attached Beta version of Aspose.Pdf.Kit.dll which the printing effect is enhanced a little in our testing. But I am not sure would it work in your customer's environment. If they still print the grainy files, then please provide more detail about the printing results(whether the result be whole or part of  a page, print  to file and let us check it, etc)

    Thanks,
