I just downloaded adhoc component and played with it a little. And i read some of the forum posts which are mostly problems and howto dos. 
I will post something later after spending more time with the component but wanted to share my first impression.
I think adhoc can be a real powerful component with some improvements. Right now it has a lot of features that will cure most of the current needs but it still lacks some features and properties.

 Here are some suggestions:
 1. In filtering section there may be a button for IsNull and IsNotNull for every type of data. 
 2. The buttons and textboxes/textareas used in the component should be configurable. Right now everthing seems to be hardcoded. I dont know maybe this is possible but i didnt see it in properties window. I would like to use image buttons instead of the default buttons for example.
 3. There should also be "OR" in filter section. Right now all filter criterias connected to each other with AND s.
 4. After creating a filter rule, user has to delete it and create it again to make changes over it. There may be a "Edit Filter" button to edit the selected filter.

As i said earlier i will have something more after spending some time with the component. The current version of the component is good enough to solve a lot of problems and its a "MUST HAVE" if you are thinking about creating dynamic reports in your pages.  

I am very surprised at how easy it was to set up multiple queries for my users.  I set a drop down box for several different queries that my users would be interested in and just set the datasource of the aspose.adhoc to which ever one they choose.  Do a databind and my work is done.  I send the output to excel using Aspose.Excel.

I will be putting in a facility for them to save and retrieve queries.
