Re: Barcodes have random letter when scanned Reporting Services

    Hi,

Thank you for the further details.

I am afraid that the licensing module will not work as expected with multiple instances of SQL Server on same machine. The problem arises when Aspose.BarCode for SSRS assembly (v4.4.1) tries to find the license in one of the active SQL Server instance directories. In your case, it seems that both of your SQL Server instances are active. We are currently working to provide the solution to this problem by adding the license details to the windows registry. So any active SQL Server instance can share the license from a common location. Hopefully, this feature will be added in next release. I will link this thread to the appropriate ticket from our tracking system, so you get notified once this feature is available.

You can work yourself around this problem by placing the .lic file in ReportServer/Bin folder of all your SQL Server instances. This work around is only for  latest version of Aspose.BarCode for SSRS v4.4.1. If you are using the v2.6/v2.5 then please keep using the same assembly till we resolve this problem

We are sorry for your inconvenience.

    Hi,

Attached to this post is the Beta release of Aspose.BarCode for SSRS v4.5.0. With this release we have implemented a new licensing strategy. You can now add the license in your machine's registry by using the configLicense tool provided in Tools folder of your Aspose.BarCode for SSRS installation directory.

Please un-install the existing version from the control panel and install this new version. After the installation and adding the license to machine registry, please confirm that the ReportServer/bin folder has the updated assembly (v4.5.0). Restart the Reporting Services and check if you can see the watermark on your reports.

Note: This is a beta version, so please make a backup of your existing Aspose.BarCode for SSRS assemblies before installing the new version.

Re: Barcodes have random letter when scanned Reporting Services

    Hi Mark,

As you may know that we have recently released Aspose.BarCode for Reposrting Services v4.5.0 with a new licensing strategy. Unfortunately this strategy isn't working on Windows Vista 64 bit OS. For that we have logged a separated ticket (BARCODREP-33119) in our tracking system for correction purposes.

    Thank you for your patience.

Re: Barcodes have random letter when scanned

Has ther been any resolution to the licensing problem that I have with Windows 7 64-bit.  I have not seen an update for some time and I am not sure how I lookup the staus of the ticket (BARCODREP-33119) that you referenced in the last post.

    Hi Mark,

    Thank you for your patience.

We have recently fixed this issue and you can download the latest version of Aspose.BarCode for Reporting Services v 4.6.0 from the download section

Please be clear that the ticket BARCODREP-33119 was logged to correct a problem of Licensing Config Tool not being able to embed the license in machine's registry if OS happens to be Vista 64 bit. You never mentioned Windows 7 64 bit as your testing environment (refer to your comments). Although we have verified that the latest build can properly set the license on Windows 7 64 bit with SQL Server 2008 R2.

    To set the license:
    • Remove the previously installed product and install/configure the new version.
    • Run "LicenseConfig.exe" as Administrator.
    • Click "Select License" to browse and select your license file.
    • Click "Install License" to embed the license in registry "For all users".
    • Test your report.

Please feed us back with your results and feel free to write in case of any ambiguities or inquiries.

Re: Barcodes have random letter when scanned

It still has the Aspose text in the report.  I am using Windows 7 64-bit.  Not sure why I kept saying Windows Vista 64-bit.  I followed the directions above and the Aspose is still displaying.

Re: Barcodes have random letter when scanned Reporting Services

    Hi Mark,

Please share more details regarding your test environment like,
    • SQL Server Instances
    • Service Packs

For trouble shooting purposes please check the following,
    • Presence of latest assembly (v4.6.0) in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies" folder.
    • Try setting the license for "Current User only"
    • Check if LicenseConfig tool has properly added the license to machine registry by clicking the "Remove all licenses" button. If the license was previously embedded then you will get "Deleted X licenses" message in status bar.
