Re: Some general questions about Aspose workflow

You asked me to describe our application (I think most ideas correspond with common ideas about workflows):
    • We like to use workflow editor and engine to add workflow features to one application (that is, we do not want to create workflows between different applications).
    • You can say our application is an ERP System for organisations that provide social services, in most cases long term care for elderly people. In our application there are several business forms. Each form has got a certain function: receiving and displaying basic claims data about a person (residents/clients and staff), information about problems and resources of residents, information about cost units and so on. These forms base on Windows Forms from C# / .NET.
    • To provide our customers with workflow features we’d like to implement an additional workflow layer in our application. It should be possible to draw a workflow with the help of a designer and the workflow engine should control the flow between gui forms. That means the control of showing gui forms should be not hard-wired in code, but it should be controllable flexible.
    • Our application has got a front and back end. The front is where customers are interacting with forms. The back end makes it possible to control which forms can be used in front end by certain user groups and to configure options for each form. In addition to that, in future, the back end should allow editing workflows, assigning them to user groups and not least monitoring and administrating running workflows.
    • To control the flow between forms you should be able to describe conditions. To evaluate these conditions you can run methods attached to the forms or evaluate data belonging to the workflow itself.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

    • Is there any possiblity to show the current state of the workflow visually by showing the workflow diagram. Finished, running and open workflow tasks are marked by different of drawing.
    Thank you.
