This release introduces two new export formats - now you are able to export your RDL reports to Web pages (HTML) and plain text (TXT), apart of the "native" Microsoft Word formats such as DOC, DOCX, RTF and WordML. Another noticeable improvement is the support of bookmarks, labels and actions which are now exported to Word documents as appropriate. Lastly, a number of fixes applied will certainly make the export even more stable and precise.

This is a maintenance release getting us a bit closer to perfect conversion of RDL reports to editable Microsoft Word documents. We have fixed a number of bugs reported by our users as well as polished the export by adding and debugging some more smart conversion algorithms. Besides, we have changed the way some report items (such as table rows) are exported.

We keep improving rendering RDL reports to fully editable Microsoft Word documents. This release is another stage of this continuous process. The release includes a number of fixes applied while testing existing customer reports, therefore not registered in our defect database. So there are no defect numbers to list this time. Simply download the program and try it, and please report anything that you think should be fixed or improved.

This hotfix release contains a critical update for the MSI installer related to installing the product on the Visual Studio 2005 Report Designer. Please upgrade if you have the installation process interrupted with an unexpected error "Could not properly install or configure Aspose.Words for Reporting Services..."

We are happy to announce the release of Aspose.Words for Reporting Services 2.0, the unique product that enables the export of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services reports to Microsoft Word document formats. This release finally introduces a feature that has been expected by many users - export to flow layout documents! This means now you are able to convert RDL reports to "true", "normal", easy to edit documents as if they were created manually by an office worker! With the version 2.0 you can get documents that allow to insert paragraph breaks, contain tables crossing over pages that grow when adding contents, and so on.

Flow layout mode has been a research job and it still cannot guarantee the exact object positioning for some reports due to its nature. However, Aspose.Words for Reporting Services tries to convert reports as close to original design as possible. If you encounter any issues when exporting your reports in flow layout mode, please post it in the support forum and we will respond shortly.

Please note that the flow layout mode is now the default mode for report export. If you wish to keep the positioned layout as was done with the versions 1.x, add the particular option to the configuration file as described in the product documentation.

Aspose.Words for Reporting Services 1.4.1.0

This release introduces a very interesting feature. Now you can enable a special mode that will instruct the renderer to understand HTML text hosted within textboxes! This allows to apply different inline formatting such as bold or italic within the same textbox. Moreover, you can insert almost any HTML you wish! Of course, this feature won't work in design time as well as in the formats exported by rendering extensions other than Aspose.Words for Reporting Services. However, if you want to export rich formatted reports to Microsoft Word documents, this new feature is exactly what you need.

What's New

Added the EnableHTMLFormatting configuration option.
Configuration options can now be enclosed directly into the <Configuration> element rather than into the <DeviceInfo> element. For backward compatibility purposes both methods are supported.
