We are pleased to announce the release of Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.9.0. In this release, we have addressed around 76 items which include some great new features, enhancements to existing product features and resolution of reported issues. One of the new features introduced in this release is the ability to check if the source PDF file is correct or corrupted. This feature has been in great demand by many customers that have faced problems during PDF concatenation. If any of the source files are corrupted the whole process gets disturbed and interrupted.

We also have introduced a feature that lets you add an image field type to an existing PDF document. Some customers wanted to be able to apply justified alignment to a multiline text field, so we have made it possible with the help of FormFieldFacade.AlignJustified value. CheckBoxes can have the values Check, Circle, Diamond, Square and Cross when selected inside the PDF form.

Our development team has worked hard to stabilize and improve the HTML to PDF, PDF to image, PDF to HTML, and PDF to XPS conversions as well as filling form fields, merging PDF files, extracting text and many other features. This release has also been tested in a multi-threaded environment and works great.

Please visit the following link for further details on what’s new & fixed in Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.9.0.

We are very much excited to announce some great new features in Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.8.0. With this new release, you can shrink the contents of a PDF file to a smaller size so you’ll save hard disk space. The TextFragmentAbsorber has always been a great mechanism for searching & replacing particular text strings inside a PDF file and now it lets you include a subset of the font used when replacing PDF file contents. Use the
TextFragmentAbsorber.TextFragments[1].TextState.Font.IsSubset = true;
code line to include a subset of a font used for in the text replacement process in the output file instead of including the complete font file. This features helps to reduce the size of PDF document significantly.

The Pdf class under the Aspose.Pdf.Generator namespace contains an overloaded Save method which returns the resultant PDF in Response object. To provide the same feature for the Document class, we have introduced a new overloaded method
Document.Save(HttpContext.Current.Response, "test.pdf", ContentDisposition.Inline, new PdfSaveOptions());
which returns the resultant PDF to Response object. Please note that in this release, we have specifically improved the PDF concatenation functionality and we also are introducing the capability to merge XFA forms. Numerous issues related to form field filling, text extraction, conversion of PDF files into image format, PDF printing and much more have been fixed in this release.

Please visit the following link for further details on what’s new & fixed in Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.8.0

We are very much excited to share the first release version of Aspose.Pdf for .NET in 2012. Feel free to explore the exciting features introduced in Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.6.0. This release includes some great new features including SVG to PDF conversion, transforming PDF to PDF/A, rendering PDF into image format with desired dimensions, creating a PDF portfolio and determining if the source document is encrypted, before opening it.

There has been significant improvements to memory management when dealing with large and complex PDF files and converting PDFs into image formats. The component is also more stable when converting intricate HTML files into PDF format. You can now concatenate large PDF files and generate a resultant PDF around 1.0GB in size. Along with these improvements, we have made the PDF to DOC and PCL to PDF conversion processes more stable and robust. The product has been tested in a multi-threaded environment and it has proved to be a champ.

We have resolved a number of other issues too: we have improved the image/text replacement feature, corrected the rendering of PDF files to raster images, added support for more HTML tags, improved printing of PDF files, corrected the way that multi-line watermarks work and much more. To try it out yourself, download latest release version of Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.6.0 now.

For a complete list of issues resolved in this version and features being offered, please check out the release notes on the Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.6.0 download page.

2011 was quite a year. The environment and the economy seemed unfriendly; iconic IT celebrities passed away and the end of the PC was announced more than once. Our customers and colleagues saw change everywhere around them. But in the midst of all this, work continued: software was written and new companies, services and products were launched worldwide. At Aspose, we did our best to support our customers and make sure that whatever they had to deal with, our products wouldn’t add to their troubles.

Here’s a quick review of what Aspose achieved in the busy and eventful year 2011.

New products

We also released Aspose.Email for Java and Aspose.Email for SharePoint but because they are Aspose.Network for Java and SharePoint re-named, they’re not really new products.

New features isn’t the only thing that makes life easier for our users. We also introduce new services and change the way we interact with our customers to give you more flexible ways of working with us. Below is a selection of process changes, features and services that we developed in 2011.

Auto-porting allows us to maintain one code base and compile both the .NET and Java versions of our products from it. This benefits our customers because the two components are in sync and offer the same features. It benefits us because we only maintain one source for two products. We save time: you get a better product. This year we finished the work on auto-porting two products:

Aspose.Words for .NET and Java are now released on the last of the month, every month.

Aspose.Cells for.NET and Java now offer almost the same features.

Aspose.BarCode for Java went from version 2.7 to 4.4 when the .NET and Java features were synchronized.

Aspose.Pdf for .NET and Aspose.Pdf.Kit were merged to give our .NET users a unified API for creating new and working with existing PDF files.

We pay attention to the what out customers ask for so this year we have added a range of conversion options and support for new file formats:

PDF to HTML conversion in Aspose.Pdf for .NET.

PPTX conversion options added to Aspose.Slides.

PST support in Aspose.Email for .NET (previously Aspose.Network).

Barcode reading on Windows Phone 7 with Aspose.BarCode for .NET.

Aspose Consulting allows you to outsource products that use our products to us, the team that knows most about them.

Retired products

Sometimes, we have to discontinue a product. This year, the following three were taken off our product list:

Aspose.Flash

Aspose.Report

Aspose.Pdf.Kit for .NET (merged into Aspose.Pdf for .NET so the functionality is still there)

Community involvement

We sponsored a number of user groups and conferences. From the Great Lakes .NET User Group in the north-east US to Desert Code Camp in the south-west, we help developers get together and learn from each other in an open and friendly development. We are also building out own online community and have:

10,000 customers.

69,000 newsletter subscribers

140,000 signed up users

Over 1,500 Twitter followers

Over 600 Facebook fans

Looking forward to 2012

We have great plans for what we’re doing in 2012 and are looking forward to sharing them with you over the year. Watch this space: we’re constantly working to improve our products and the way we support our customers.

We are pleased to announce the release of Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.5.0. This release includes some great new features such as setting background color of pages in PDF documents, determining which pages in a PDF document has background color set and support for attaching MP3 files. This release also improves the product’s performance when converting PDF files into XPS/TIFF format and extracting text and images from PDF. Aspose.Pdf for .NET 6.5 also includes support for transforming PDF files into HTML and other supported formats. We’ve also improved the file concatenation features.

Pass Documents from Class to Class without Saving

We have introduced a mechanism where you can use the single PDF document and pass it to various class objects present under Aspose.Pdf.Facades, without having to repeatedly save and open it. To facilitate this, we have locally added the Document property for almost all facades and extended them with new constructor. However, please note that not all facades work with Document directly.

For example PdfFileInfo only saves changes on invoking methods (SaveNewInfoWithXmp, SaveNewInfo) so has not been extended with the Document property. Document property can be used to access an inner document which is changed by Facade and then we can pass this Document object as an argument to another facade constructor in order to continue editing the same PDF document.

Please have a look at the code snippet below: it shows how PdfContentEditor and PdfAnnotationEditor can work in conjunction.

[C#]
PdfContentEditor contentEditor= new PdfContentEditor();
contentEditor.BindPdf("input.pdf");
contentEditor.CreateText(newSystem.Drawing.Rectangle(100,100, 50, 50),
              "Mine", "Some comment", false,"Comment", 1);

PdfAnnotationEditor annotationEditor=
              new PdfAnnotationEditor(contentEditor.Document);
annotationEditor.ModifyAnnotationsAuthor(1,1, "Mine","Yours");
annotationEditor.Save(“UpdatedAnnotation.pdf”)

Changes to the PdfConverter Class

We have made following changes to PdfConverter class:

PdfConverter property changes: The Resolution property type has changed from int to Resolution. It now allows you to set horizontal and vertical resolution independently.

PdfConverter methods changes: The GetNextImage methods now accepts width and height instead of resolutionX and resolution.

New PdfConverter methods added:

SaveAsTIFFClassF(string outputFile)

SaveAsTIFFClassF(Stream outputStream)

SaveAsTIFF(string outputFile, TiffSettings settings)

SaveAsTIFF(Stream outputStream, TiffSettings settings)

GetNextImage(string outputFile, ImageFormat format, int imageWidth, int imageHeight)

GetNextImage(Stream outputStream, ImageFormat format, int imageWidth, int imageHeight)

GetNextImage(Stream outputStream, ImageFormat format, int quality)

GetNextImage(string outputFile, ImageFormat format, int quality)

New TiffDevice actors added:

TiffDevice(int width, int height, Resolution resolution, TiffSettings settings)

TiffDevice(int width, int height, Resolution resolution)

TiffDevice(int width, int height, TiffSettings settings)

TiffDevice(int width, int height)

New TiffDevice properties added

int Width

int Height
